Item Year Information

YEAR INFORMATION
1991 Motor racing in the international classes needs the skill that only comes from experience. Top drivers have to work their way up from the bottom. Scalextric provides cars for less experienced drivers. They are fitted with standard motors, gearing and pick-ups but have less elaborate bodywork and decoration. They are toughly built to withstand the inevitable pile-ups and ill-judged leaps to be expected from would-be champions.
1992 Many of today's top Formula One racing drivers developed their skill in the smaller and less powerful single seat racing cars during their younger years.
The selection of cars on these pages are based on the type of car used for the 'first drive' and have been robustly constructed to withstand the knocks and bumps of the future Formula One driver.
1993 Every Formula One driver learnt the basics of his chosen profession by first developing his craft on less powerful but possibly more durable machines. Many of them would start with Go-Karts and move on to Formula Ford or a similar class, eventually going as far as Formula Three and then taking the giant step into Formula One.
The single seat racers are very similar to their full size counterparts as, like them, they are simply constructed to take the rough and tumble of the novice driver. Aerofoils are designed to be easily replaced should they become detached during an accident, restricting any chance of permanent damage. The motors and pick-ups are all standard components so that service becomes simplicity itself.
1995 Everybody has to start somewhere, even Michael Schumacher. Most Formula One drivers work their way up through the various single seater racing Formulas until they reach their goal.
The selection of single seater cars on these pages are designed for the aspiring F1 driver. Each car is sturdily built to withstand the rough and tumble of the new driver learning the ropes. The aerofoils on some of the cars are designed to become dislodged, rather than break, so that they can be replaced with the minimum of delay. Other cars have Magnatraction and some have the Easi-Fit guide blade for fuss free racing. So if you are a newcomer, or training to be a Formula One driver, this range offers the right selection.
