Item Year Information

YEAR INFORMATION
1979 Team Lotus was formed in 1954 by Colin Chapman, a man who had made his name as a trendsetter in Grand Prix design. Chapman produced the Ford V8 powered Lotus 72 car which revolutionised motor racing by removing the water radiators from the front to the sides of the chassis, and brought the term 'wedge-shape' into motor racing design. Lotus dominated the 1978 Grand Prix scene with their superbly designed cars which took aerodynamic thinking a stage further by producing downforce through wings on the side of the car.
1980 Team Lotus was formed in 1954 by Colin Chapman, a man whose name has become synonomous with trendsetting in Grand Prix design. The Lotus 77 was intended to allow as much flexibility as possible for the vastly different Formula 1 circuits. Just like its counter-part this streamlined Scalextric model has superb handling characteristics and has proved itself a winner in many a Scalextric Grand Prix.
1981 The Lotus 77 was designed to provide as much flexibility as possible in view of the vastly different Grand Prix circuits. Like its counterpart the Scalextric model is well balanced and handles superbly on both fast and slow circuits.
1982 Powered by a Ford Cosworth engine, this car provided the Lotus team with the great flexibility needed to adapt to the different race circuits throughout the Grand Prix calendar. The Scalextric version is well balanced and is suited to both fast and slow circuits.
